Short-term mission trips

January 3, 2008 by Denise Walsh

Since 1985, Mercy Missions International has been involved in short-term group outreaches. During this time we have taken out over 100 teams to15 nations. The nations we have reached and are continuing to reach are Spain, England, Russia, Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico, Haiti, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Taiwan, China, Thailand and India.

Two types of short-term mission trips:

Group outreaches, which give opportunity for members of Mercy Christian Fellowship to become involved in foreign missions. These teams are usually involved in evangelism and mercy ministries. For many, this type of trip is their first ministry experience outside their local area.

There are several things accomplished through group outreach:

  • Evangelism, which is done through drama, ministry to the poor, and street preaching.
  • Strengthening the local churches by serving them in whatever capacity they desire.
  • Increasing the vision for world missions by giving people from our congregations the opportunity to see what God is doing in other parts of the world.
  • Giving the members of our congregations an opportunity to see if they are called of God to full time foreign service.

Sending out of experienced ministers to teach or conduct crusade meetings.
